The most important item to consider is the quality of the leather used to make the saddlebag. One type is cowhide leather, and the other is synthetic leather. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Most motorcyclists, however, prefer leather to synthetic leather. Cowhide leather is usually more expensive than synthetic leather.
The second most important part of the motorcycle saddlebag is the metal used in it. The studs and rivets should be made of quality metal such as stainless steel.
Don't forget to consider the quality of the mounting hardware provided with the saddlebags.
Remember: Good quality saddlebags are lockable, easy to remove, and have quick release buckles.
